How it works

Loss per coin if stopped = |entry − stop| + the fees on both trades. Position size = account × risk ÷ loss per coin. The stop is assumed to fill exactly at the stop price; in fast markets it can fill worse.

Questions

How much risk per trade is typical?

Many traders risk 0.5% to 2% of the account per trade. Smaller risk means smaller swings and more room to survive losing streaks; our trend rule once lost 16 trades in a row in replay.

Why does a tight stop allow a bigger position?

Because each coin can lose less before you exit. A tight stop is also hit more often by ordinary noise.
